Job Title: Social Media Specialist (Film & Entertainment)

Contract Duration: Up to 6 months (January - June 2025 anticipatory)

Hours: 10 to 20 hours per month

Job Description: We’re looking for a Social Media Specialist with a passion for film and entertainment to join our team. This role involves managing our social media presence, creating newsletters, and handling promotional and marketing tasks to boost engagement and outreach.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute social media strategies on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

  • Create engaging content, including posts, images, and short videos, to captivate our audience.

  • Monitor and analyze social media performance, providing insights for improvement.

  • Design and distribute monthly newsletters to our mailing list.

  • Stay updated on social media algorithms to optimize post visibility.

  • Build relationships with key stakeholders in the film and entertainment industry.

  • Handle ad hoc marketing and promotional tasks as needed.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in social media management, particularly in the film/entertainment industry.

  • Strong knowledge of social media algorithms and analytics tools.

  • Proficiency in creating newsletters using tools like Mailchimp or similar platforms.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and deliver results on time.

  • Knowledge of or connections in the film and entertainment industry in BC is a strong asset.

Compensation:$20/hour for 10 to 20 hours per month.

Eligibility/ Key Requirements:

  1. ⁠Like and follow our Facebook/Instagram.

  2. Open to filmmakers in BC (must be BC resident)

  3. Scripts must be original and never been made before – written by the applicant

  4. ⁠Only 1 submission per applicant

  5. ⁠Short film must be completed by August 31, 2024.

Requirements:

  1. Up to 10 pages max.

  2. Must be related and will have a social impact in your community.

This grant is intended to support the creation of films that address social issues or contribute to positive social change. The selection process will be conducted by a diverse panel of industry professionals.
